The magic of this place begins with the step through the castle elbow, because the moated castle from the 17th Century belongs to the architectural jewels of the Ruhr valley. Michael and Petra Lübbert feel committed to the tradition of this special place — and thereby they have the future in their view. Their Credo „RESPECT TRADITIONS, BE OPEN FOR NEW“ affectionately respects the history and at the same time builds a bridge between the past and the present. With its 25 rooms and the two restaurants NERO and HUGENPÖTTCHEN castle Hugenpoet is a 5-star hotel with a club character — private and easy to overview — and less than 20 driving minutes away from the fair cities Düsseldorf and Essen and from the airport Düsseldorf.
Today the castle hotel Hugenpoet belongs to the leading Small hotel of the World. It lies in the midst of its own idyllic castle park and in the delightful scenery of the Ruhr meadows. Where in earlier times the „Hugen“(= toads) were sitting in their „poet“(= puddle) and waiting to perhaps become, the frog king. This name tradition is maintained in the castle hotel Hugenpoet with a wink. Everywhere you see small toads: On the collar of the hotel owner, on the tiepin of the barkeeper or on the menu of the restaurant HUGENPÖTTCHEN.
This 17th century Manor House is considered as one of the architectural jewels of the Ruhr valley. This is why this historical monument has been converted into an exceptional hotel.
